Hunter Clark Ltd's roots date back to 1900 when two Monumental Masons, Thomas Hunter & William Clark, set up business in Glasgow's Gallowgate to serve the adjacent Eastern Necropolis Cemetery from where they gradually developed into a modest firm of General Building Contractors.

The firm was acquired by the present family in 1923 and became a registered Limited Company in 1927 operating as Building, Public Works and Masonry Contractors.

The original yard is now incorporated into our present Head Office site in Gallowgate. G.S. Height Services Ltd. (formerly the Glasgow Steeplejack Co Ltd.), an associate company, operates from the Gallowgate. The Manufacturing Joinery facility and Plant Depot are sited at Rutherglen.

Today Hunter Clark Ltd is one of the foremost Building Contractors in Scotland with the company motto "Building the Landmarks of the Future, Restoring the Landmarks of the Past".

Hunter Clark can undertake a variety of building projects from new build, extension and alteration, refurbishment, repair and maintenance and small jobbing works.

The company prides itself in its diversity of skills it maintains, by retaining a nucleus of skilled tradesmen within its in-house, directly employed, labour force of around 300 operatives.

These skills are nurtured for the future with a rigorous annual training programme for apprentices covering all trades. This sustained policy means Hunter Clark have developed a reputation as a "Training Company".

Hunter Clark have a bespoke electronic office management system under a full time Systems Manager and operate a fully integrated networked computer system controlling the Estimating, Stock Control, Job Costing, Accounting, Manufacturing Production, CAD Drawing and Surveying functions.

This forms the basis for the Quality Management System, Information Databases and Contract Planning. System links to Sites can be set up to enable monitoring by Design Teams or Clients. Health and Safety and Training records are maintained in the system.
